We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister and the Queen, the Supreme Governor, to reform the Church of England, the Established Church, to return its funds and assets to all the people of England. More details

The Church of England is part of the heritage of the whole community, but due to its religious bias is not accessible to all.
Just imagine if the beautiful churches of England were available to the whole community, and not just a religious minority. Kept primarily as sanctuaries of peaceful contemplation and reflection they could provide other services such as, art, music, theatre, counselling and discussions on topics as diverse as science, philosophy, psychology, the meaning of life and the environment, as well as providing the usual services of weddings and funerals to all members of the community.
Organised on a strictly non-religious basis the new reformed organisation would be open to all. In the past, when most people were, supposedly, religious, the Church was synonymous with the community and as such was funded by the community. As people became less religious-minded and more secular they drifted away from the Church and, so, became deprived of the amenities and community benefits that the Church organisation had to offer.
Lack of belief, in the unsubstantiated dogma of Christianity, should not deprive anyone of their heritage. Rather the Church should change to reflect the modern world and evolve into a non-religious entity to be enjoyed by the entire Community of England.
Do you have any ideas on how the churches could be used in a non-religious way? If so, send an email to
and we'll publish them on this website.
